Administration

The administration uses a form of e-government that allows for citizens to see whether the government is meeting their goals and promises or not. It is a way of showing the statistics behind the government's actions. Here, the local government makes publicly available in an easy to understand GUI for citizens the statistics of certain goals that the government has. An example would be improving literacy rating, which because of open data can be shown in a chart format as being 'on track' with the government's agenda. When a program is failing or needs improvement, it is displayed with a red or yellow indication next to the topic respectively. They are several charts still collecting data, aggregating it from several different databases from schools on how many special-needs students have been able to claim their benefits to police departments and their indexed crimes. The data is all taken and then input into a chart that displays the information chronologically. This is an excellent use of open data by the government, providing taxpaying citizens with the information they need to ensure that their government is using their taxes wisely and having a positive effect on the community.

A second policy the government has implemented is that all operating systems for government computers be of the same version. Currently the government is using Apple products exclusively. In this way, there is no issue of there being a divide between two diffeent departments because of different versions or OS. There is additonally the fact that using only the most up-to-date operating system and software, there is less chance of a security breach.
